Mars Finance News, May 30 — Recently, a class-action lawsuit against Tesla's FSD (Full Self-Driving) feature held its first trial at the Beijing Daxing District People's Court.
According to the plaintiff's lawyer, 10 Chinese car owners sued Tesla for false advertising and consumer fraud, seeking a total compensation of over 3.95 million yuan.
Tesla has not responded to this case yet.
The plaintiff's lawyer stated that during the trial, both sides focused on whether Tesla's FSD function meets the claimed "full autonomous driving capability" through evidence presentation and debate.
The plaintiff argued that the defendant knew that the "full autonomous driving" feature it advertised had not been approved by Chinese regulators, could not realize its core advertised functions, and concealed hardware technical flaws, engaging in misleading publicity, inducing the plaintiffs to purchase, and their behavior meets the elements of fraud.
Tesla, the defendant, claimed that the FSD function has "already been achieved" or "partially achieved," and stated that subsequent features are still under development. (The Beijing News)

The standards for identifying consumer fraud are very strict, but false advertising can't be avoided, right?

3.95 million divided by 10 people, an average of 395k, it seems the car owner is really pissed off.

FSD dares to call it fully autonomous driving in China without approval? I think this wave of car owner rights protection is justified.

Class action lawsuits are quite rare in China; this case has a demonstrative significance.

3.95 million Tesla cars is just a drop in the bucket, but the public opinion impact is significant.

From AP to FSD, Tesla's naming has always played the edge game well

When I bought it, they said it was fully autonomous driving; now they say it's still in development. Who wouldn't be angry?

How many times has FSD failed in the United States, and the road conditions in China are even more complicated.

The name FSD itself is misleading; fully autonomous driving and assisted driving are worlds apart.
