Deep Tide TechFlow News: On May 30, citing Iranian media reports, Xinhua News Agency reported that Salimi, a member of the Presidium of the Iranian Parliament, said that Iran’s plan regarding the Strait of Hormuz to “implement sovereign jurisdiction” is expected to be approved by the parliament and could be upgraded into a permanent law.

Salimi said that the manner of managing the Strait of Hormuz should be jointly decided by Iran and Oman, and other countries have no right to interfere with the relevant arrangements.

The report said that the Iranian side has already communicated with Oman about the plan, and Oman has expressed preliminary support. Both sides are expected to reach further consensus on the relevant proposal in the near term.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy transportation routes. It connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and plays a role in transporting a substantial portion of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas. Market attention is focused on whether the relevant law will ultimately take effect, as it could affect regional shipping, energy trade, and the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
