According to Agence France-Presse and Le Parisien, French courts have approved the extradition of John Daghita, a suspect in his twenties with American nationality, back to the United States. U.S. authorities accuse him of embezzling approximately $46 million worth of cryptocurrency from a U.S. government-controlled custody wallet he signed a contract with, prior to leaving the U.S. at the end of February 2026. It has been disclosed that the suspect is the son of an executive at a private American security company that assists the U.S. government in managing seized cryptocurrencies. During the search, law enforcement officials found a box of U.S. dollars, high-end computer equipment, multiple mobile phones, and a handgun, and have fully recovered the stolen $46 million in cryptocurrency. His defense attorney stated that the suspect himself requested extradition, but the entire administrative extradition process could still take about 10 months to complete.

The management rights to seize wallets are actually outsourced to private companies, this vulnerability is too big.

The administrative process took 10 months; the suspect probably gained weight first.

In their twenties, they can make $46 million; a genius on the left, prison on the right.

46 million says you can get it back just like that—if on-chain isn’t it publicly transparent, how could it still be moved away?

Requesting extradition oneself, it seems American prison food is better than French.

A box of cash + a pistol + high-end equipment, a complete package for fleeing.
