U.S. “Electoral District Map Battle” Escalates: Louisiana Splits Democratic-Controlled Districts

Golden Finance reports that on May 30, local time on May 29, the U.S. state of Louisiana’s State Senate passed a new congressional district map bill, splitting a district currently controlled by Democrats with a majority of African American voters. Subsequently, the Republican governor of the state, Jeff Landry, signed the bill into effect. Analysts say that as the midterm elections draw near, the struggle between the Republican and Democratic parties over redistricting will intensify.
