Ukrainian prosecutors recently accused a gang composed of several former police officers of kidnapping cryptocurrency entrepreneurs and extorting over $2.2 million. The gang includes two former police colonels, four police officers, and a civilian with a criminal record, who used official resources and vehicles to impersonate law enforcement officers. At least four cryptocurrency entrepreneurs have been confirmed as victims. In one case, a victim in Kyiv was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to sign a false debt document for $5 million. The involved police officers have been dismissed, and the case is being handed over to the court for trial. (Decrypt)
