SUI Network suffers second major failure due to software defect
CryptoWorld News reports that the SUI network suffered a second major outage on May 29, 2026, with trading paused for nearly six hours. The disruption was caused by a software defect in a recent update, which led to an interruption in block production. After the gas fee charging system malfunction was discovered, an emergency upgrade required being adopted by more than two-thirds of network participants. Mysten Labs confirmed that the crash vulnerability was introduced in version 1.72 and will carry out a comprehensive incident review soon. Even after recovery, performance remained degraded. CoinGecko shows that during the outage, the SUI token reacted quickly, and traders reduced their positions amid uncertainty. The outage has raised concerns about the reliability of the network infrastructure, as the market assesses its impact on confidence and network activity.
