Coinbase L2 Base Azul officially launched, aiming to enable withdrawals within one day
CoinJie.com reports that Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 network, Base Azul, has officially launched, marking Base’s first independent upgrade after transitioning to a standalone technology stack. The mainnet will be activated on May 28, 2026 at 18:00 UTC. This upgrade introduces a multi-proof system and a local client, and brings Osaka execution-layer changes, CLZ instructions, and re-pricing. Most application developers do not need to make large-scale changes; old nodes must migrate to the local client to stay in sync. The new tech stack reduces empty blocks by about 99%, the number of daily blocks drops from about 200 to about 2, and peak TPS exceeds 5,000.
