mulholland drive is a devastating film which makes me envious of david lynch and his ability to disappear inside the emotional labyrinth of women without flattening them into symbols


it feels less like a story and more like a half remembered dream htat is soaked in desire, shame, delusion, tenderness an jealousy
every woman in it feels haunted by the version of herself she wanted to become
i don’t think many filmmakers understand feminine longing with that kind of eerie intimacy
