Beijing will formulate regulations for the development of the artificial intelligence industry, with plans to conduct a first review of the draft regulations in November.
Golden Finance reported that on May 28, according to The Beijing News, during the 24th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 16th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, the meeting heard and reviewed a report on the deliberation results of proposals submitted for consideration by deputies, which were delivered by the Presidium of the 4th Session of the 16th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress.
A total of 4 proposals delivered to the Committee on Ethnic, Religious, Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs for deliberation by the Presidium of the 4th Session of the 16th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress were as follows: the proposal on formulating the “Beijing Regulations on the Development of the Artificial Intelligence Industry” submitted by 13 deputies including Huang Leping; the proposal on formulating legislation to promote the development of Beijing’s artificial intelligence industry submitted by 15 deputies including Yang Qiang; the proposal on formulating legislation to accelerate the development of the artificial intelligence industry and strengthen the construction of a talent team submitted by 12 deputies including Tao Qinghua; and the proposal on formulating legislation to accelerate legislation for embodied intelligent robots submitted by 17 deputies including Zhang Xiyong.
According to the arrangements for legislative work, the Standing Committee meeting is scheduled to conduct its first review of the draft regulations in November this year. Before that, the meeting of the chairpersons of the Standing Committee will also conduct a study of the “Project Initiation Feasibility Demonstration Report on the Beijing Regulations on the Development of the Artificial Intelligence Industry.”
