The Argentine Ministry of Health has submitted a bill to Congress to prevent gambling addiction and regulate online gambling, explicitly including virtual asset service providers within its scope for the first time. The draft requires banks, fintech companies, crypto exchanges, and wallet service providers not to offer services or facilitate transactions for online gambling and casino platforms that are not officially licensed by Argentina, and to strengthen due diligence, transaction monitoring, and KYC. The bill also proposes amending the criminal law to impose 2 to 4 years of imprisonment on individuals or companies that provide key financial, technical, or digital asset services to illegal gambling platforms. Previously, the Buenos Aires court in Argentina ordered a comprehensive ban on the cryptocurrency-based prediction market platform Polymarket. (CriptoNoticias)
