Bitcoin mining companies shift to AI boom drives stock prices soaring, Cipher and Hut 8 hit record highs

Mars Finance News, according to The Block, Bitcoin mining companies transitioning to AI and large-scale computing are seeing their stock prices keep rising. IREN surged more than 13% on Wednesday, nearing its all-time high; following its earlier announcement of $3 billion in convertible bond financing, a partnership with Nvidia to build 5 GW AI data centers, and the acquisition of Mirantis for $625 million, it also reached a $1.6 billion agreement with Dell on Tuesday to supply Blackwell AI systems. Cipher and Hut 8 both set new all-time highs—Cipher rose about 9.5% to $25, while Hut 8 climbed nearly 5% to $118; over the past year, HUT is up nearly 600%. TeraWulf rose more than 6% on Wednesday, with a gain of about 800% over the past year, as its HPC business’s quarterly revenue first surpassed its Bitcoin mining business performance. Riot rose 3.3% on Wednesday to $27; in Q1, its data center revenue was $33 million, mainly from AMD partnerships. This year, it has sold some of its Bitcoin holdings to finance AI construction funding, while still holding nearly $1.2 billion worth of Bitcoin.
