Gold Financial reports that on May 28th, senior researcher Doug Bandow of the conservative think tank Cato Institute in the United States stated that as the U.S. and Iran implement a dual blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, the main confrontation between the two sides has shifted to the economic front. Bandow said, "Trump's situation is very difficult. He closed the Strait of Hormuz, unintentionally giving Iran a very powerful weapon, and he himself is reluctant to risk American warships trying to open it." He added, "It's hard for him not to reach an agreement that satisfies Iran." Bandow also expressed skepticism about Trump's claim that he doesn't care about the impact of the war on the upcoming midterm elections. "He might say that publicly, but no one really believes it. The last thing he wants to see is the Republican Party suffer a crushing defeat in November." "Everyone hopes this will end. I have no doubt he (Trump) has heard this and indeed cares," Bandow stated.
