I've seen many traders still confused between Pullback and Throwback. Since I often encounter this situation in the market, let me clarify how important this is for trading.

Simply put, a Pullback is a price retracement in a downtrend, while a Throwback is a retracement in an uptrend. Both have similar characteristics: the price does not break through the previous support or resistance levels and then continues with the main trend. The difference is only the direction. But what's crucial is understanding when the price will Throwback to test the support level, which can be a very good buying opportunity because you get a better price.

What causes many people to miss out is confusing this with a Reversal Pattern, which is quite different. A Reversal involves breaking through support or resistance, whereas Pullback/Throwback does not. Additionally, Reversals usually have higher trading volume, while Pullbacks/Throwbacks are often minor corrections with lower volume.

The method I use is to wait for the price to Throwback to test the previous resistance level. If the price breaks through, it could be a true Reversal. But if the price bounces back up, it's a good Throwback. For stop-loss placement, set it slightly below that support level.

Another effective method is to look at the trendline. If the price Throwbacks to test the trendline without breaking it, that’s a good entry point. Or use Fibonacci to find the 23.6% or 38.2% retracement levels. Usually, in strong trends, Pullbacks/Throwbacks won't exceed these levels.

For ladder trading, it also works well—entering when the price tests the previous high during a Throwback or the previous low during a Pullback.

Remember, Pullback and Throwback are not trend reversals. They are short-term pauses that allow new investors to enter or existing holders to lock in some profits. Once you understand this, Throwback becomes a good opportunity to find advantageous entry points. Combining Pullback/Throwback with other tools can increase accuracy. Try applying these methods and you'll notice the difference in your trading.
