Have you ever stopped to think about who the guys were that helped popularize trading among Brazilian investors in recent years? Rafael Ferri is one of those names that circulates quite a lot in the market, and honestly, his story is really interesting for understanding how Brazil’s financial market has changed.
The man has more than 20 years of experience in the stock exchange, left Rio Grande do Sul, and started at a time when access to B3 was much more restricted. With the internet and digital platforms, Rafael Ferri became a well-known figure among retail investors who trade on the stock market. People follow him on social media, comment on his market analyses, and follow his strategies for variable income.
One of the best-known projects Rafael Ferri was behind was TC Investimentos, a platform that brought together investors, analysts, and traders in a very active community. Real-time debates about the market happen there, trading strategies are shared, educational content is provided, and there is a lot of interaction between professionals and beginners. Ferri was one of the main shareholders and helped expand that community significantly. But in February 2023, he left the project to focus on new business ventures.
After that, Rafael Ferri created GTF Capital, an investment advisory office accredited with Genial Investimentos. The focus is on high-net-worth investors, with strategies mainly in stocks. They provide advisory services for variable income, market analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
Now, I can’t fail to mention: Rafael Ferri’s career also has its controversial episodes. The most well-known is the “Alicate Bubble,” which was investigated by the CVM over suspected market manipulation and insider trading. The matter went to court and took years. In December 2019, the Regional Federal Court of the 4th Region acquitted him of the charge of insider trading and suspended the conviction for market manipulation, sending the case back for a new review. This case became one of the most discussed topics about regulation and transparency in the Brazilian market.
But despite the controversies, Rafael Ferri continues to be a relevant figure. He helped drive trading among retail investors in Brazil, uses social media to share analyses, and created communities where people can exchange information. His work usually focuses on Brazilian stocks, short-term operations, and analysis of market sentiment.
Rafael Ferri’s path reflects a broader transformation in the country’s financial market. With the digitization of brokerages, the growth of online financial education, and more retail investors entering the stock market, public figures like him gained a lot of visibility. Ferri is part of this generation of investors that brought the general public closer to the capital markets. Whether through his contributions or the controversies, his story is an important part of how Brazil’s financial market has evolved over the last two decades.
