Just put together a 2026 timetable of US stock market trading hours, and sharing it with people in Taiwan who want to trade US stocks.

We’re now in daylight saving time (from March to November). Regular US stock market trading hours are 9:30 PM to 4:00 AM Taiwan time. If you want to join pre-market trading, you’ll need to wake up earlier—pre-market starts at 4:30 PM. After-hours trading runs until 8:00 PM. During standard time, the hours shift back by one hour, becoming 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM the next day—be especially careful not to mix them up.

The US stock market mainly has three operating exchanges: stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange are mostly large companies, NASDAQ has mostly technology stocks (such as Microsoft and Apple), and the American Stock Exchange mainly covers small- and mid-cap stocks. The opening and closing times across the exchanges are basically synchronized, but prices may differ slightly.

I also listed the 2026 US stock market holidays: New Year’s Day on January 1, Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19, Washington’s Birthday on February 16, Good Friday on April 3, Memorial Day on May 25, Juneteenth on June 19, Independence Day on July 3-4, Labor Day on September 7, Thanksgiving Day on November 26, and Christmas on December 24-25—make sure to avoid these dates. The day after Thanksgiving and the day before Christmas will close three hours early.

If you’re in Hong Kong or other parts of Asia, the time difference will be slightly different, but the basic logic is the same: when the US market opens in Hong Kong time, it’s roughly around 9:30 PM, and you need to separate the calculations for daylight saving time vs. standard time. If you remember these time points, you won’t run into problems when trading US stocks.
