FIL Spring Tune

Withered trees sprout new branches in spring,
Spring breeze, spring rain, spring arrives.
May you book your spring boat ticket early,
Don't wait until March when flowers are in a flurry.

The Buddha said: Cultivating all good deeds is achieved through patience; those who can endure can fulfill any wish!

All phenomena are non-self, achieved through patience.

It is not a matter of should or should not.

Patience, on the surface, appears to be enduring and accepting, but in reality, it leaves a small scar on the heart, using it to counteract karma, thereby truly attaining precepts, concentration, and wisdom.

Faith is the gateway to the path; patience is the culmination of safeguarding the way.

Knowing that all phenomena are non-self, achieved through patience
— "The Diamond Sutra"
Translation: When one truly understands and recognizes that the individual self is not an eternal unchanging entity, but is composed of countless momentary conditions and causes, one can attain inner peace and liberation through patience and transcendence, achieving true practice and accomplishment.

Harmonize with the harmony of heaven and earth; follow the principles of the eight winds. Savor worldly desires amid ordinary affairs, without anger or resentment. Do not act in ways that want to leave the world; do not seek to be seen among the common ways of the world. Externally, do not strain the body for worldly matters; internally, have no worries or anxieties of thought. Take tranquility and ease as your task, and contentment in yourself as your achievement. Let the body remain whole, and let the spirit stay undispersed.

Live with an ordinary heart. Let all natural things be your teachers; learn by following nature. Cultivate yourself and verify for yourself. Do things steadily, and be truly earnest in how you live as a person. Take good care of your family, and help yourself and your loved ones live more happily and joyfully. An ordinary heart is the heart of the Way! The places of family and work are our dojo!

Based on Liu Qiang and Livermore's root causes of failure, provide them with a path to liberation from a Buddhist perspective.

1. Hold the Diamond Sutra, realize the emptiness of all phenomena, break attachment to self and dharma, and avoid being trapped by wins and losses or ingrained experiences.
2. Recite the Heart Sutra, understand that the five aggregates are empty, dispel fear and despair, and stay away from emotional upheavals.
3. Strictly observe trading precepts, stay away from leverage and heavy positions; regularly practice giving, transforming greed into altruism.
4. Focus the mind on Buddha’s name to gather the spirit, do not cling to the mind when doing things, remain unmoved by changing circumstances, and this is liberation. 😄🙏

Core Summary

1. Common roots of Livermore and Liu Qiang

Both are deeply involved in speculative gambling, obsessed with winning and losing, fixated on market trends and past experiences, bound tightly by greed, anger, gains, and losses, as well as market fluctuations; although they understood trading and studied psychology, they failed to completely eliminate their ego attachments. Their mindsets fluctuated wildly with profits and losses, ultimately leading to mental collapse and tragedy.

2. Individual triggers for each

Livermore: Lifelong engaged in short-term speculation, repeatedly rising and falling, never letting go of trading wins and losses, constantly driven by desire and emotion, and in old age, he believed his life was a complete failure.

Liu Qiang: Possessed a mature trading system and Buddhist knowledge, but broke his own principles during extreme market conditions, heavily risking his positions; compounded by old depression, after market upheaval shattered his beliefs, he fell into self-doubt and mental breakdown.

3. Core warning

Futures and derivatives speculation is akin to gambling, easily amplifying inner demons; obsession with profit, wishful thinking, and losing bottom-line discipline are the roots of financial loss, personal harm, and family disintegration. 😊🙏

既然万法皆空。为何因果不空呢?

万法如虚云,因果如尘水。
虚云缘起生因果,因果尘水生万物。
万物生灭因果定,因果灭尽万法空。

Nothing is other than the mind, and nothing is other than the object.
The mind gives rise to myriad realms, and realms are created by the mind.
A single thought of ignorance immediately becomes an object; when the object perceives and the thought is abandoned, the mind begins to come alive.
Only matter is the mind in action, only the mind is the knowledge of matter.
Mind and matter are not two; they are one. When they are united as one, it is the unity of knowledge and action!

Bodhi originally has no tree,
A bright mirror is also not a platform.
Originally, there is not a single thing,
Where does dust arise?
Suchness and silence are the mother,
Thoughts arise from conditions.
Emptiness and color are one thing,
Dust is stained everywhere. 😄🙏

It is the stream of thoughts formed by the information you perceive when you open your eyes, see with your eyes; hear with your ears; smell with your nose; taste with your tongue; and feel through the touch of your body—each being separately conscious. When the mind-ideas change according to changes in the environment, that is the discriminating mind, known as the separately conscious mind. To have a mind is to be bound by yin and yang, the five elements, and the eight trigrams.
