been looking into commodities trading platforms lately and honestly there's way more options than i thought. everyone asks what's the best one but it really depends what you're after - some are great for beginners, others are built for people who know what they're doing.
so i've been comparing like 8 major ones and the thing that stands out is how different their fee structures are. some charge spreads only (no commissions), others have tiered pricing. mitrade seems solid for people just starting out - user friendly interface, decent leverage options, and you can trade gold, oil, natural gas without actually owning the stuff through their cfd model. plus the demo account lets you practice first which is smart.
if you want copy trading features there's etoro, which is interesting if you want to mirror what experienced traders are doing. then you've got the more hardcore options like interactive brokers and saxo bank - these are for people who know exactly what they're doing and want access to serious markets.
the comparison really comes down to: what commodities do you actually want to trade? energy assets like oil are crazy volatile. precious metals like gold and silver are more stable but move on economic news. agricultural stuff is its own beast entirely. and industrial metals track economic growth pretty closely.
most of these trading platform for commodities options let you go long or short depending on market conditions, which is useful. execution speed matters too since prices swing constantly. haven't personally tried all 8 but from what i've researched, fees range from basically zero commission (just spreads) to pretty substantial depending on the platform. worth checking what assets each one actually offers before signing up - some have 20+, others have 100+ commodities available.
anyone else trading commodities? curious what platform you're using and if the fees are actually as transparent as they claim.
