Just spent way too long researching commodity trading platforms and honestly, there's a lot of decent options out there now. Everyone keeps asking which is the best commodity trading platform, but real talk—it depends on what you're actually trying to do.
So I went through like 8 major platforms and the thing that stands out is how different they all are. Some are super beginner-friendly with copy trading features (eToro's pretty cool for that), while others are built for the hardcore traders who want direct market access and low fees. Interactive Brokers is insane if you're doing high volume, but yeah, it's complex as hell.
For most people though? Mitrade keeps popping up as solid. The spreads are tight, they let you go long or short with up to 1:200 leverage, and the interface isn't trying to confuse you. They've got like 20+ commodities—oil, gold, natural gas, metals, agriculture stuff. Plus they're ASIC regulated which matters if you're in Australia.
Other names worth checking: Plus500 if you want simplicity, IG Group if you need research tools, CMC Markets for advanced charting. CMC's spreads are competitive too (0.2-0.3 points). Saxo Bank and AvaTrade have their things but they're either too expensive or too basic depending on who you are.
The real question is whether you want CFDs (easiest), futures (more complex), or actual ETFs. Most people end up with CFDs because you can scalp, hedge, whatever. Just keep leverage in mind—it cuts both ways.
Anyone else actively trading commodities right now? What platform are you using and how's the experience been?
