CryptoWorld News: Tencent Cloud has publicly disclosed that the new-generation Canghai V2 chip has been successfully “lit up” and is currently entering the mass-production cycle, with plans for full rollout in the second half of 2026. Tencent’s “Canghai” chip has been under development since 2019; mass production began in 2023 and it has been widely deployed. Currently, more than 100,000 Canghai V1 units are deployed at scale across Tencent Cloud and its own scenarios, covering core applications such as live streaming, on-demand video, 4K ultra-high-definition high-frame-rate transcoding, and real-time encoding for cloud gaming. The encoding and decoding processing capability of a single chip has doubled compared with V1, and its compute efficiency–cost performance is further improved. Unlike general-purpose chips, “Canghai” is a dedicated chip designed specifically for video encoding and decoding scenarios, mainly developed based on Tencent’s own massive audio and video business requirements.
