Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis stated that humanity is approaching the "pre-mountain of singularity," and the emergence of AGI could occur as early as 2030 or even earlier. According to him, the current wave of AI agents is a kind of "rehearsal" for much more powerful systems that society is not yet ready for. Hassabis made the statement after the Google I/O conference in an interview with Axios. He noted that the industry is increasingly confidently moving toward AGI, as rapid progress in agent systems can already be observed.
