I was analyzing the foreign exchange market here and found something interesting - most people think that the dollar and euro are the most expensive currencies in the world, but that's not quite true. There are currencies much more valued that we don't hear much about.
The Kuwaiti Dinar is actually the most expensive currency, quoted at around 3.25 USD. Next comes the Bahraini Dinar (2.65 USD) and the Omani Rial (2.60 USD). These Middle Eastern currencies are strong because of oil reserves and economic stability. The British Pound Sterling is around 1.32 USD, the Swiss Franc at 1.12 USD, and the Euro at 1.09 USD.
What I found curious is that the dollar, which was historically the most expensive currency, is no longer at the top. It lost strength due to inflation in recent years, but it still remains the most traded globally. After it, there's the Canadian Dollar (0.74 USD), the Singapore Dollar (0.74 USD), and the Australian Dollar (0.66 USD).
For those looking to invest in more expensive currencies and diversify their portfolio, the most followed now are the Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen, US Dollar, Euro, and British Pound. These have high liquidity in the forex market and are less volatile. The British Pound continues to be one of the most valued currencies for those seeking stability.
The point is that investing in foreign currencies has become an interesting way to hedge against inflation of the real. You can open an account with online brokers, monitor exchange rates, and trade currency pairs directly. Just be careful because the foreign exchange market is volatile and requires study before putting real money in. But if you want to break away from the traditional and explore different opportunities in 2026, the most expensive and strongest currencies in the world are worth keeping an eye on.
