I’ve been lurking for a long time, but I still want to say one thing: recently, people have been talking again about re-staking and shared security. The way the returns stack up layer by layer looks pretty good, but I always feel that many people are stacking “illusions.” To put it plainly, security isn’t a free lunch. If you take the same piece of collateral and give it to more places to back up, then when something really goes wrong, it turns into a chain cascade— the one that blows up first will drag everything after it down with it. And with that mainstream public chain’s upgrade before and after these past couple of days, everyone in the group has been guessing whether the ecosystem will migrate; if anything, I’m even more nervous. When these nodes/parameters move, the corner-case protocols are the most likely to develop small problems. Anyway, my own habits are still the same: if I can keep it in a cold wallet, I will. If I can’t make sense of complex yields, I treat them as if they don’t exist. I’ll wait until other people have finished reviewing and replaying the vulnerabilities before I take action.
