Samsung’s “AI Wealth Gap” Exposed: Chip Employees Receive an Average Per-Capita Bonus of RMB 2.32 Million, While Non-Chip Departments Only Get RMB 27,000
BlockBeats News, May 27 — Samsung Electronics employees voted to approve the latest compensation agreement, avoiding a planned large-scale strike that was expected to last 18 days. About 74% of employees supported the plan, and Samsung’s stock price rose by as much as 8% that day.

Under the agreement, employees in Samsung’s chip division will receive a fixed cash bonus equivalent to 50% of their annual salary, and a special bonus of 10.5% of semiconductor business profits, with some paid in the form of stock. Bloomberg calculations show that the average bonus for employees in the chip division is about 513 million Korean won (about 2.32 million RMB), and bonuses for some storage-chip employees can be as high as 600 million Korean won.

In contrast, the average bonus for employees in non-chip businesses is only about 6 million Korean won (about 27,000 RMB), and the 100x income gap has already sparked internal controversy.
