Abstract generation in progress
Today (May 27), the world's largest offshore converter station — "Heart of the Sea Breeze" — will be officially shipped from Nantong, Jiangsu.
The converter station is 85.5 meters long, 82.5 meters wide, and 44 meters high, with a footprint equivalent to a standard football field, and a height approximately equal to a 15-story residential building, weighing 25,000 tons.
It is the world's first ±500 kV, 2,000 MW flexible HVDC offshore converter station.
According to the plan, "Heart of the Sea Breeze" will be transported by semi-submersible ship to the Qingzhou offshore wind farm in Yangjiang, Guangdong, 1,090 nautical miles away, using a "float-over installation" process to connect with the pre-installed subsea duct foundation.
