I've noticed after years of observation that most people misunderstand the actual trading hours of gold. Many think that the market closes and opens like traditional stock exchanges, but the reality is completely different.

The global gold market operates almost continuously from Sunday evening to Friday evening, but not with the same intensity all the time. Activity begins in Sydney then moves to Tokyo, then London, and finally New York. Each session has its own character in terms of liquidity and price movement.

Sydney session opens the week relatively quietly – low liquidity and prices move within narrow ranges. This is the ideal time for observation and analysis, not for entering large trades. Then Tokyo comes with moderate activity, followed by the main event with the London session, where liquidity increases significantly.

The golden period is actually when London overlaps with New York – here you find the highest liquidity and the strongest price movements. Practically speaking, these trading hours offer the best opportunities for serious traders. Prices move strongly, spreads decrease, and opportunities are clear for those who know what they’re doing.

Regarding the timings in Saudi Arabian time: the London session starts around 11 AM in winter and 12 PM in summer, while New York begins roughly at 4 PM. The overlap from about 4 to 8 PM is personally my preferred trading time.

An important thing I learned from experience: don’t trade during major news without proper preparation. U.S. employment reports and interest rate decisions move the market violently. Prices can move $50 in just a few minutes. If you want safe gold trading hours, it’s best to avoid these periods unless you are experienced.

Practically speaking, Tuesdays through Thursdays are the best days for active trading because liquidity is high and economic data is released regularly. Mondays are usually quiet, and Fridays often see unexpected volatility as people close their positions.

One last important point: if you trade CFDs on gold, make sure your platform offers full trading hours. Some platforms impose short maintenance breaks. Knowing these details protects you from surprises. Different gold trading hours offer different opportunities – the key is to choose what suits your strategy and manage your risks wisely.
