On May 26, 2026, the inaugural stop of the “Silk Road Light and Shadow” Chinese film overseas screening and promotion tour was held at Nu Metro Cinema in Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. More than 100 attendees, including Wu Peng, the Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, as well as officials from the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives from the cultural, media, overseas Chinese community, and youth student sectors, jointly witnessed the launch of the event. Supported by the National Film Administration and hosted by China Media Group (China Central Television), the event is one of the key cultural exchange activities under the framework of the “2026 China–Africa People-to-People Exchange Year.” During the event, screenings featured two Chinese film releases that ranked among the top two in Chinese box office standings since the beginning of 2026: 《Pegasus 3》 and 《The Bounty Hunter: The Winds Rise in the Desert》, vividly showcasing the thriving momentum of China’s film industry and the charm of Chinese culture.
