Crypto PAC Spends Tens of Millions of Dollars to Overturn a 20-Year Incumbent Anti-Encryption Lawmaker, Helping Freshman Congressman Menefee Rise to Office
BlockBeats reports that in the runoff of the Democratic primary for Texas's 18th district, newcomer candidate Menefee defeated the incumbent of 20 years, Al Green. Fairshake and related parties collectively invested approximately $10.5 million: $6.5 million supporting Menefee and $4 million opposing Green. Green was rated an F in the Stand With Crypto score for voting against pro-crypto bills like GENIUS and CLARITY, and was identified as the first incumbent to lose this round due to his anti-crypto stance. Fairshake stated that their victory proves that hostility toward crypto can have electoral consequences and will continue to support leaders like Menefee.
