The U.S. Navy resumes guiding ships through the Strait of Hormuz

Gold Finance reports that on May 26, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. military officials revealed that the U.S. Navy has resumed assisting ships in transiting the Strait of Hormuz. These officials stated that a Greek-flagged supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil received guidance and escort from the U.S. Navy while passing through waters near the Oman coast. This vessel has been stranded in the Middle Eastern Gulf region since early March and is now heading to India to deliver its cargo. The escort operation marks the restart of the "Freedom Plan." This plan is an initiative previously launched by the United States aimed at guiding ships through this vital shipping route, but it was temporarily halted about 36 hours after its launch. Officials said that the U.S. Navy plans to assist more than ten ships, including supertankers and container ships, in transiting the waters in the coming days.
