Gold Financial Reports, on May 26th, according to Reuters, the European Union plans to impose a fine of nearly 1 billion euros on Google, which will be the largest penalty issued by the EU under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), expected to be officially announced before the summer holidays. The investigation was officially launched in March 2025, with the core accusation being that Google prioritized promoting its own services in search results, violating DMA regulations. The European Commission stated that its primary goal is to promote Google’s compliance rather than simply pursuing fines, but emphasized that it will not hesitate to take further steps. Google, on the other hand, criticized the DMA regulations for causing "the largest downgrade in its search products ever" and expressed hope to resolve the dispute as soon as possible.
