Italian media: Iran insists on immediately using half of the frozen funds as soon as the agreement is announced
According to ME News, Iran is negotiating with the U.S. based on a proposed 14-point Memorandum of Understanding, demanding the unfreezing of $24 billion in funds. Of this, $12 billion would be available immediately upon announcement, with the remaining amount transferred within 60 days. Iranian Parliament Speaker Kalibaf visited Qatar to seek consensus on the first $12 billion and the transfer obstacles, avoiding prior issues with funds in South Korea and Qatar. The Doha talks went generally well, helping to advance broader negotiations with the U.S., but Iran still views the United States as the untrustworthy party.
