QDII quotas are limited; collective increase in premiums for investing in overseas funds

Caixin May 26th, a slight adjustment to the quota of a long-established NASDAQ 100 OTC fund has exposed the current supply and demand contradictions in the overseas investment market.

Guotai NASDAQ 100 QDII (160213.OF), as the earliest established QDII NASDAQ fund, previously ended a long suspension of subscription and reopened quota-based subscriptions on May 20th, with a daily subscription limit set at 300 yuan, giving many investors interested in US tech stocks hope for compliant entry. However, just one week later, this hard-won compliant gateway has tightened again, with the fund announcement reducing the single-day subscription limit directly from 300 yuan to 100 yuan, an almost symbolic opening.
