Ren Zhengfei rarely appears on CCTV—Huawei has officially released a new “chip law.” Did China win big again?
On May 25, Ren Zhengfei? No—Huawei’s He Tingbo released the Tao Law, aiming to replace the Moore’s Law for chips and redefine the future roadmap for semiconductors.
Previously, chips competed on size: the smaller the transistor size, the better. They have already reached 1.4nm, which is effectively a physical limit. Going even smaller is extremely costly, and the results get worse and worse.
Huawei’s proposal is to increase the density of each individual transistor, using methods like logic folding and compressing signal delay, to achieve the same performance as small-size transistors. In the past, making transistors smaller meant fitting more transistors onto a single-layer chip; now, they boost the performance of a transistor itself and build chips in multiple layers, so the transistor density and efficiency are much higher.
Huawei’s approach is not just theory. It has already been applied: they have mass-produced 381 chip models under this theory. It is expected that by 2031, multi-layer chips produced using this law will have transistor density equivalent to 1.4nm.
Due to this news, A-share domestic chip and semiconductor stocks surged again in an enthusiastic wave; the semiconductor index plummeted 7.11%, and he still reached a new historical high.
Right now, the chip and semiconductor market is in an extreme frenzy. As soon as any piece of news comes out—whether it’s a long-term theory or not, whether it improves performance or not—the effect is to make the stocks in the sector surge wildly.
This is China’s first attempt to define a new direction for semiconductors. Whether it can succeed remains to be tested by time, but in A-shares, the main players have already succeeded. It is suggested that everyone stay calm and never get carried away. The main players are stuck in the same boat and can’t get off—it’s currently attracting bag holders. I don’t know whether Huawei has won big, or whether China has won big—anyway, the main players have definitely won big. #股票交易挑战最高赢17000U
