I just opened the stock app and saw strange abbreviations attached to many stocks: CA, XD, XM, T1, T2, etc. At first, I wondered what they meant, but once I understood, I realized they are very important if you want to trade stocks seriously.

Starting with the stock CA, which is the most important first. CA stands for Corporate Action, which means that the stock is about to have some kind of movement within a week, such as paying dividends, shareholder meetings, or issuing new shares. If you click on the CA, you will see details about what it is and when it will happen.

But the abbreviations after the stock are not just CA. There are many others, divided into three main groups.

The first group is the X series, all starting with X, which means Excluding. That is, "if you buy the stock now, you will not receive certain rights," such as XD (Excluding Dividend). If you buy during the XD period, you won't get dividends this round, but if you hold until the next round, you will get them again. XM (Excluding Meetings) means you won't attend shareholder meetings. XW (Excluding Warrant) means you don't hold warrants or convertible shares. XR (Excluding Rights) means you won't have the right to subscribe to new shares, which usually involves capital increase. There are many other similar abbreviations with the same meaning.

The second group is the T series, which indicates that the stock's price has risen sharply and speculation is high. The stock exchange has implemented control measures, divided into T1, T2, T3, in order of severity. If marked T1, you must buy only with a Cash Balance account. If T3, restrictions are even tighter because, besides needing cash, you are also prohibited from using shares as collateral. When you sell, the money will be returned the next day instead of immediately.

The third group is warning signs to watch out for: H (Trading Halt), which means trading is temporarily halted for one period; SP (Trading Suspension), which means a longer halt than one period; NP (Notice Pending), meaning the company needs to report something to the market; NC (Non-Compliance), indicating the company may be delisted; ST (Stabilization), meaning they are trying to stabilize the stock price; C (Caution), indicating the company has high risk issues.

In fact, understanding these suffix symbols before trading is very important because they tell you what events are happening to that stock. Once you understand them, you can make better decisions, whether it's waiting for important events or avoiding risky stocks.
