According to Gao Qi, the chief forecaster at the Hubei Provincial Meteorological Bureau, on May 25th, Hubei experienced heavy rainfall, primarily due to an abnormal intensification and northward movement of the subtropical high-pressure system, which transported moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea to Hubei. As cold air moved southward, the rainfall shifted from warm sector rainfall to frontal rainfall.
