The U.S. military claims to have carried out a self-defense strike in southern Iran.

According to U.S. media reports on the evening of May 25th Eastern Time, a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command stated, "To protect U.S. military forces from threats posed by Iran, the U.S. military conducted a 'self-defense strike' in southern Iran. The targets included missile launch sites and Iranian ships attempting to lay mines." The spokesperson added, "In addition to defending U.S. military forces, U.S. Central Command will remain restrained during the current ceasefire." (CCTV International News)
