On the 19th local time, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed deep concern about the scale and speed of this Ebola outbreak, and announced that an emergency committee meeting will be held to discuss response recommendations. Currently, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has confirmed 30 cases, all from Ituri Province in the northeast. Uganda also reported two confirmed cases to WHO, one of which resulted in death; both patients are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Tedros stated that the outbreak may further spread, causing more deaths, and there are currently over 500 suspected cases and 130 suspected Ebola-related deaths. As the scale of on-the-ground operations expands, including enhanced surveillance, contact tracing, and laboratory testing, these numbers are expected to change. (CCTV News)
