Recently, I’ve been taught a lesson again by the mainnet’s gas fees. One small operation and my heart skips a beat. If I switch to Layer 2, it is smoother—yet all the back-and-forth bridging, withdrawals, and other delays still make it feel like I’m locking myself in another small town.

To put it plainly, I’m now taking a compromise: large actions that must be “settled” stay on the mainnet, while small trial-and-error, frequent interactions, and moving in and out between Layer 2—if I lose a bit on gas here, I also save myself some emotions.

The kind of “inflation + studios instantly smashing the economy” storyline from chain games—I’ve seen it too many times, and that’s exactly why I don’t want to force my way through high-friction environments.

Anyway, I need to be reminded: experience matters, but don’t let saving a few gas costs mess up your risks and your mental accounts. Live longer first.
