Been researching commodities trading platforms lately and honestly there's way more options than I thought. If you're looking for a solid platform for trading commodities, it's not just one answer - depends what you actually want to do.
So I went through like 8 different brokers and they're pretty different from each other. Mitrade keeps popping up as the go-to for most people, especially if you're new to this. They've been around since 2011, Australian-based, and the thing that stands out is you can trade oil, gold, natural gas without actually owning the stuff through their CFD model. Spreads only, no commissions, and they let you go long or short depending on your strategy. Plus they have a demo account to test things out first.
eToro is interesting because of their copy trading feature - basically you can mirror what other verified traders are doing if you don't want to figure it all out yourself. Spreads are a bit higher though. Then you've got Plus500 which is super simple, no commissions just spreads. IG Group is more for experienced traders - they've got solid research tools and market analytics but the fees range from 0.1 to 2.0 points depending on what you're trading.
CMC Markets is known for advanced charting and technical tools, Saxo Bank supports both CFD and futures which is good if you're serious, Interactive Brokers is basically for pros with direct market access and low costs for high volume, and AvaTrade is beginner-friendly with educational resources.
The thing about commodities is you can trade energy (oil, natural gas), precious metals (gold, silver, platinum), industrial metals (copper, aluminium), and agricultural stuff (wheat, corn, coffee). Each has different price movements and risk levels.
If you're just starting, I'd say look at Mitrade or eToro for a platform for trading commodities that won't overwhelm you. If you've got experience and want advanced tools, IG Group or CMC Markets seem solid. For the pros, Interactive Brokers gives you deep market access.
Anyone else trading commodities? Curious what platform people actually prefer in practice versus what the reviews say.
