Recently, I’ve seen everyone downloading apps to mine Bitcoin on their phones. It sounds appealing, but after researching thoroughly, I want to share what I’ve learned.
Actually, there are two main types of mobile Bitcoin mining. The first type allows you to mine via cloud services (which doesn’t drain your phone’s battery), and the second involves playing games or watching ads to accumulate Satoshi. The first costs money, while the second is free but earns very little.
Regarding Bitcoin’s current price, it’s fluctuating around $77.5k (as of May this year). At one point, it reached $126k, but it also dropped at times. With such volatility, many people think mining Bitcoin on their phones will make easy money, but the reality is different.
I’ve looked into popular apps like StormGain, ECOS, Hashshiny, MinerGate, F2Pool, Bitdeer... Most of them share common points: initially free to use, then start charging fees. And when you actually earn Bitcoin, withdrawal fees are very high, cutting into your profits.
The hardest part of mining Bitcoin on a phone is that it drains the battery very quickly, heats up the device, and the mining speed is extremely slow. You might mine for months but only earn a few million Satoshi. After deducting electricity costs, device depreciation, withdrawal fees... there’s almost no profit.
Warning: Google and Apple have been warning about fake Bitcoin mining apps since 2018. There are over 120 scam apps still out there. They disguise themselves as mining apps but are actually just games, or they only make you watch ads and then ask for payment. Some even steal personal information.
If you truly want to make money from Bitcoin, I think derivatives trading is much more effective. You don’t need to buy expensive equipment, don’t have to worry about security, have lower costs, and can potentially earn profits faster if you predict the price movement correctly.
In summary, mining Bitcoin on a phone is not an easy way to make money. It’s suitable for those with plenty of time, powerful devices, and low expectations for high profits. If you want to truly earn from Bitcoin, think carefully before making a decision.
