I spent the last few months testing almost all free artificial intelligence tools available and thought it was worth sharing what really works. What’s impressive is that today anyone can access technology that, a few years ago, was expensive or required heavy technical knowledge.

I'll be honest: most people get stuck on ChatGPT and don’t explore other options. But there are many AI websites out there that do very specific things and work better than the most popular tool.

I'll start with the obvious. ChatGPT remains strong in 2026, mainly because the free version now has access to GPT-5 (with a limit of about 10 messages every 5 hours). After reaching this limit, it switches to the "mini" model, which is faster and lighter. It’s good for writing, generating basic images, programming, and brainstorming ideas. If you want more speed and higher limits, the Plus plan costs around $20 a month.

Now, Google Gemini is interesting because it’s integrated into the Google ecosystem. The big advantage is that it pulls real-time web data, which the free ChatGPT doesn’t do as well. If you work with research or need answers with verifiable sources, it’s worth testing. The paid version costs around 79 reais per month here in Brazil.

DeepSeek deserves mention because it offers surprisingly good performance for almost no cost. The platform is fast, good at calculations, and provides in-depth explanations. Many people don’t know about it because it’s Chinese, but honestly, it works well for studies and tasks that require mathematical reasoning.

For content creators, Lumen5 is a lifesaver. You input a text, article, or even a script, and the tool transforms it into a social media video in minutes. The free version has project limits and adds a watermark, but you can already make cool stuff. Professionals pay starting at $19 a month.

If you study or do research, SciSpace is practically mandatory. You paste a complicated scientific article, and the AI explains it in accessible language. It offers unlimited explanations on the free plan.

To edit audio and video intelligently, Descript allows you to cut clips just by selecting the text. It’s very practical for podcasts and short videos. The paid plan starts at $12.

ChatPDF is simple but effective: you upload a PDF and chat with it as if it were a person. Perfect for contracts, lengthy documents, or study guides. Completely free if you don’t need history or very large files.

In the visual part, there’s "This Person Doesn’t Exist," which generates photos of people who literally don’t exist. Useful for mockups, design testing, or when you need images without worrying about copyright. It’s 100% free.

Midjourney is the highlight in image generation, but here’s the truth: there’s no more free plan. Plans start at $10 a month. But it’s worth mentioning because the quality is truly next level, especially with versions V7 and V8.

Finally, NightCafe offers artistic styles and special effects. You get daily credits to generate images and access to basic filters for free.

The pattern I notice is that the combination of ChatGPT + Gemini + DeepSeek covers almost everything in text. For images, ChatGPT and NightCafe do the job. For videos and productivity, Lumen5 and Descript complement each other well. The reality is that with the right AI website, you can do much more without spending anything or investing little. Anyone can create quality content nowadays, as long as they know which tool to use for each task.
