The President of Mexico announces that Iran's team is allowed to stay during the World Cup.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the government has agreed for the Iranian national team to stay in Mexico during the World Cup. She explained that, since the United States has indicated that it is unwilling to host the Iranian team, this is the decision.

FIFA has arranged for the Iranian team to be based in Tijuana, a border city in Mexico, during the World Cup.

Iran is placed in Group G in the round of 32 group stage, alongside New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt. All three matches will be held within the United States, requiring them to cross the border into the U.S. to play each game.
