Been looking into commodity trading lately and honestly there's way more platforms out there than I expected. Spent the last few weeks testing different ones and figured I'd share what actually stood out.
So here's the thing - if you're getting into commodity trading platforms, you've got options. Some are super beginner-friendly, others are basically built for pros who know exactly what they're doing. I started with Mitrade because everyone keeps mentioning it, and yeah, it's pretty solid. No commission, just spreads, and they let you use leverage up to 1:400 on certain metals. The demo account was actually helpful for figuring out if I liked their setup before risking real money.
Then there's eToro which has this whole social trading angle - basically you can copy what other traders are doing. Kind of wild if you think about it, but spreads tend to run higher than Mitrade. Plus500 is simpler, almost too simple for some people, but that's the appeal I guess. No commissions, just straightforward spreads and stop-loss tools. IG Group has better research stuff if you're the type who needs deep market analysis. CMC Markets is similar but way more customizable - you can tweak basically everything on their platform.
If you're more advanced, Saxo Bank and Interactive Brokers exist but they're pricey and kind of overwhelming at first. Saxo's got futures options which is different from most, and IBKR is basically for people who trade professionally. AvaTrade's another beginner option - they throw a lot of educational content at you and support MetaTrader if that matters to you.
Honestly the whole commodity trading platform space comes down to what you actually need. Fees matter if you're trading a lot, but the interface matters more if you're just starting. I'm still testing a few of these but Mitrade's staying on my phone for now. What's your setup looking like?
