Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approves 6GHz band testing, expected to be officially commercialized around 2030
CCTV Finance reports that recently, the 6GHz band received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, making China the world’s first country to approve permission for the use of 6G trial frequencies. After this approval, 6G technology R&D will gradually move from laboratory simulations and indoor prototype testing to real-world scenarios such as cities and industrial settings to complete performance verification.
In terms of progress milestones, from 2022 to 2025, China has successfully completed the first phase of key 6G technology trials and is currently kicking off trials for the second phase of technical solutions. In the future, the international community will also need to complete the formulation of the first edition of the 6G standard. Industry insiders generally expect that 6G could be officially commercialized around 2030.
