South Korea's veteran public blockchain ICON announces that it will officially shut down the network on December 31, 2026, and complete the migration to SODAX. The official states that the final migration deadline from ICX to SODA is also December 31, 2026, after which ICX can no longer be migrated. ICON states that as cross-chain and liquidity infrastructure mature, continuing to maintain Layer 1 no longer aligns with the project's direction.

Layer1 track is really competitive; established public chains also need to find new ways to stay alive.

ICX holders, remember to set an alarm so you don't miss the migration deadline.

The old chives from 2017, watching ICON step by step to today, feeling nostalgic.

The network shutdown date is set for 12/31, the last day of the fiscal year, very Korean.

Cross-chain infrastructure is mature → So building your own chain doesn't make sense anymore, I understand this logic.

I still have a few hundred ICX; I need to figure out how to migrate them.

There will be no more ICON chain in the future, but I saw it on SODA.
