Customs at the airport confiscate approximately 1.1 million yuan suspected of heroin

Hong Kong Customs cracked down on a drug trafficking case at Hong Kong International Airport, seizing about 1.9 kilograms of suspected heroin, estimated to be worth about 1.1 million, as well as a stick of untaxed cigarettes.

A 46-year-old male passenger arrived in Hong Kong today from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During customs clearance, officers found the batch of suspected heroin concealed in a wooden box in his carry-on luggage, along with the stick of untaxed cigarettes, and subsequently arrested him.

The arrested person has been charged with one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs, one count of possession of dutiable goods, and one count of failing to declare dutiable goods to customs officers. The case will be brought before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
