On May 25, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New Delhi and stated that India views the U.S. as an 'important and reliable' energy partner. Rubio described U.S.-India relations as one of the 'most important relationships in the world.' This visit, which is Rubio's four-day trip to India, covers topics such as energy and regional security, and has now entered its second day. Prior to this visit, U.S. officials emphasized Washington's intention to provide India with all the energy it needs. After meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, Rubio reiterated the U.S. willingness to assist India in diversifying its energy supply. Jaishankar also mentioned that the issue of U.S. sanctions on Russian oil, a long-standing topic affecting bilateral relations, was discussed during the talks. On Sunday, Rubio dismissed claims that U.S.-India relations had cooled during Donald Trump's second term, emphasizing that the partnership with New Delhi remains a priority.
