WHO: Hantavirus outbreak has stabilized; Ebola is spreading rapidly

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated at the Executive Board meeting of the World Health Organization that the hantavirus outbreak has now stabilized, with only 1 new case reported in the past two weeks, and no new deaths since May 2nd.

He also added that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is spreading rapidly. He reminded WHO member states that in the coming weeks and months, they must expedite the completion of the annex to the Pandemic Treaty.

Earlier, Tedros pointed out that over 900 suspected Ebola cases have been identified in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including 101 confirmed cases.
