A lawsuit in New York seeks to claim ownership of 39k dormant Bitcoin addresses related to Satoshi Nakamoto's holdings.
According to Cointelegraph, the plaintiff Noah Doe filed a lawsuit in New York against two Wyoming LLCs, claiming ownership of 39,069 dormant Bitcoin addresses, classifying them as abandoned property. The addresses involved include those related to Satoshi Nakamoto and Mt. Gox hackers, holding approximately 3.7 million BTC with a market value of about $285 billion. Analysts stated that even if they win, it would only be symbolic because the Bitcoin network has no mechanism for redistributing funds without private keys; additionally, the plaintiff's notification of service to P2PKH addresses may be invalid since the actual funds are stored in P2SH scripts.
