U.S. President Trump said on a social media platform on Monday that the agreement reached with Iran is either a great and meaningful deal or there will be no deal at all, and he would not sign an agreement that paves the way for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.

Trump added that the deal would be the complete opposite of the “Iran nuclear deal disaster” negotiated with the Obama administration. On Monday, both Iran and the U.S. played down expectations of a breakthrough in ending the conflict between the two countries.

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said that the United States would either reach a good agreement with Iran or respond to Iran “in another way.”

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Iran and the U.S. have already reached a framework agreement, but no one can claim that the U.S. and Iran will reach an agreement soon, and the potential memorandum of understanding does not include specific details on the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
