Mars Finance News, on May 25th, the prediction market platform Polymarket announced a partnership with Nasdaq Private Market, officially entering the private company trading sector, aiming to enable retail investors to participate in the value discovery of private markets that were previously limited to institutional participation.
For a long time, retail investors have been largely excluded from private company investments because companies remain private for longer periods before going public and accumulate higher valuations.
Polymarket pointed out that there are nearly 1,600 unicorn companies worldwide, with a total value exceeding $5 trillion, most of which increased in value before IPO, mainly benefiting venture capital, institutional investors, and the wealthy.
Shayne Coplan, founder and CEO of Polymarket, said that prediction markets are one of the most powerful tools for democratizing access to financial information and opportunities, and this release brings them into the final frontier of finance that retail investors have never been able to access.
Through Nasdaq Private Market, Polymarket gained access to institutional-level market data, which has facilitated nearly $80 billion in secondary liquidity trading through over 1,000 company-sponsored liquidity projects.
This structure establishes an unusual feedback loop between institutional private market activity and retail speculation.
Nasdaq Private Market provides transaction-based pricing and market data, while Polymarket generates real-time sentiment and probability estimates related to future outcomes.
Rodolfo Sanchez, Vice President of Data at Nasdaq Private Market, pointed out that data flows bidirectionally, with the platform anchoring each market with institutional-level data, and market activity serving as real-time signals available to institutional investors.

The two-way feedback mechanism sounds advanced, but the key is in execution. Don't let it become just a new tool for organizations to harvest profits in the end.
